Is it easy to go around Argentina? don\'t i have to have a basic knowledge of Spanish in order for me to get by there? I know of some countries where it is really difficult to go around because not too many people know how to speak english, especially the vendors. I had this problem when I was in Hong Kong, I couldn\'t buy from hawkers because they cannot explain to me what I need? Please help. Thanks so much!

Don\'t worry, Spanish is very easy language to learn, and also to speak. You will get it very quickly. Also Esperanto is based on Spanish, which is world languge...But I think they should speak English too, especially in big cities.. :)

i don\'t think so! In Argentina nearly all the vendors know working English. You can go around Argentina without knowing spanish.

You don\'t need to speak Spanish (if you don\'t already, it\'s unlikely that you\'ll be fluent any time soon) but you should definitely take the time to learn at least the basics. Don\'t assume that the hole country is going to cater to you, unless you want to stay in your hotel where everyone does speak English. Besides, you will be missing out on the hole cultural experience. People here appreciate it when you make an effort to communicate in their language and yes, if they can, they will try to meet you half way by speaking English -not everyone speaks English as quoted earlier. You can take a look into a number of free podcast for Spanish beginners and listen to them in your ipod or mp3. Don\'t do more than one episode per day, or things won\'t sink in. There are also some Argentine podcasts that teach you Spanish words only used in Argentina. I hope this helps.

well i think that you don\'t need to worry for not knowing any spanish. cause you will be able to see some people there who are able to converse in english. thoough they may not be fluent but they will be able to speak to you in some english.

Well, there is no compulsion for you to speak Spanish if you visit Argentina. It is fine even if you know any of the Quechua, Guarani, Mapuche, Toba languages that are also spoken on a regular basis in Argentina

Hi there! If you need to learn Spanish, I think that this will help you: http://www.muonline.biz/zhyper/showthread.php?t=58161
The basics are there and it\'s easy to understand. It\'s made for the people who are playing Zypher MU because most of them doesn\'t understand Spanish and about half, I guess, of the players population there speaks Spanish.

No need to learn Spanish if you are going for few days...if you want to stay there or want to settle there you have to in that case....

Yeah! I am agreed with farebuzz, if you are going to Argentina just for travel. It is not must to learn Spanish because you can hire a guide for few days but if you are going for the stay it is must have to understand the peoples.
