SIGHTSEEING IN ARGENTINA

By JHON
Visit (1879 times)

Argentina is the second biggest country in South America. Visiting Argentina may make you feel as if you are visiting many different countries at once because of the huge variety of landscape and cultures prevailing across the country. Argentina Sights offer many incredible natural sights as well as many man-made wonders for the tourists.

Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, is often referred to as the "Paris of the South." The architectures and the structures found here are a unique blend of European and the great South American civilizations. The city is known for its huge variety of food and great lively nightlife. The city is vast and a stroll along the parks or sipping wine in a bar in the evening will let you know about the real pulse of the city.

Iguazu Waterfalls:
Iguazu Falls is one of most gorgeous and famous falls in the world. Situated between the border of Brazil and Argentina, this falls divides the Iguazu River into upper and lower stretches. Iguazu, in the local Tupi language, means "big water" and stands true to its name as this falls carries a great amount of water all through the year. Devil's Throat is the biggest cataract of the Iguazu Falls, falling from 100 meters above. It is around 150 meters wide and 700 meters long. It is considered to be one of the best seven natural wonders of the modern world.

Valdez Peninsula:
Situated in the southern tip of Argentina, this place is god's own zoo. Valdez Peninsula is the home of many unique species including elephant seals, Patagonian penguins and southern right whales. The closest city to Valdez Peninsula is Madryn which is another great place for yachting, wind surfing and fishing.

Glacier Perito Moreno:
This is a unique glacier and is still growing in size and advancing. This big chunk of an iceberg is a great place for any nature lover. There are around three safe points from which you can watch the beauty of the glacier. The ice chunks falling from hundreds of feet above to Lago Argentino offer a lovely sight. Every year the glacier advances to one of the major tributaries of Lago Argentine and creates a natural dam. During the rainy season when the water level goes up, the ice dam succumbs to the pressure of the water and breaks, offering a spectacular sight.

Bariloche and the Lakes Region:
Bariloche is undoubtedly the Switzerland of south. The area is located in Rio Negro. The lakes are great for fishing and lazy voyages over the water in a boat. The lakes are surrounded by some picturesque snow-capped mountains which attract many adventure lovers and mountaineers. Skiing is a major attraction during winter seasons in this part of the country.
